" Silai " leaves is one of the major source of income of the Dongria adivasi in Niyamgiri hill.
The dongria women collects leaves in the forest from early morning to afternoon and make bundles in the evening. They sale it in the markets situated on the foot hills of Niyamgiri after trekking down many kilometers.

The tube well seen in the picture is the only source of safe water is defunct since many years, now the villagers of Serkapadi village in Niyamgiri hill are forced to use the fountain water ! It seems the administration not at all bother about the problems of the villagers !

Only source of drinking water in Sekapadi village

 

Serkapadi is small village is situated in the Niyamgiri hill. There are around 22 house holds in the village. The fountain is the only source of water in this village. People are using this water for drinking as well. Administration has not even provided a water purifier for the village. There is a school but no teacher is coming to the village so children or deprived of education as well.
